Wendy C. Wilfert, LMFT, SEP

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, specializing in the treatment of stress and trauma.  I have over twenty years of experience in the field of psychotherapy.  I utilize both traditional psychotherapeutic treatment approaches, such as attachment and psychodynamic theory, as well as Somatic Experiencing, a naturalistic approach to trauma-recovery.  Based on neuroscience, Somatic Experiencing is a gentle, body-oriented approach to healing trauma and increasing resiliency.

My work is informed by that of renowned traumatologist and author of Waking the Tiger: Healing Trauma, Dr. Peter Levine, and respected neuroscientist and author of The Polyvagal Theory, Dr. Stephen Porges.  I focus on the mind, body and nervous system in treatment, as well as on incomplete survival responses (fight, flight and freeze). Often times the symptoms arising from stress or traumatic experiences are fundamentally incomplete physiological responses suspended in fear.  My goal is to help de-potentiate this fear allowing for a shift from survival physiology to a state that allows for thriving.

Imagine yourself deeply connecting with another and resting in their presence.  Now imagine yourself moving with agency and authenticity toward achieving your life’s purpose.  Both are within reach.  I can support you in your journey.

If my message resonates with you, contact me today.  Allow me to support you in restoring resonance to your mind, body and spirit.
